Dear Families,
A warm welcome back to Term Three! We hope everyone enjoyed a refreshing holiday break and is ready for another exciting term of learning, growing, and having fun together. There's already a great buzz around the school, and we’re looking forward to everything the term has in store.
Last Friday marked the beginning of the Grade 5 and 6 Footy and Netball roster – always a highlight of the term! Our students are eager to represent their school, show great sportsmanship, and have lots of fun out on the field and court.
A huge and heartfelt thank you to our generous school community for the amazing response to our Winter Vinnies Appeal. We were blown away by the number of donations that came in – especially the warm clothing and blankets – all of which will go to families in need this winter. Your kindness truly makes a difference.
Our Gymnastics program has started this week and will run for the next four weeks. Students will participate in fun, engaging sessions that build balance, strength, and confidence. It’s a fantastic opportunity to try new skills and get active in a supportive environment.

A huge thank you to all the families in our school community who generously donated to the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal last week. Thanks to your kindness, our school bus was overflowing with warm winter items, ready to bring comfort to those in need during the colder months. A big thank you to our Gr 6 Students leaders who organised and coordinated the event. The staff at Claremont St Vincent de Paul were deeply grateful for the donations and touched by the generosity shown by our community.
This act of giving shows the heart of our school, thank you for being part of it.

Welcome to Term 3!
We’re excited to be back for another busy and enriching term! Last term, our Year 5 students took a deep dive into Australia’s past through our HASS unit, exploring life in the 1800s. Highlights included a walking tour of Hobart, where we examined colonial architecture and convict-era monuments, as well as a thought-provoking visit to TMAG, where we explored First Nations Aboriginal culture and histories. We also enjoyed a scenic excursion to kunanyi / Mount Wellington, walking alongside the Organ Pipes and connecting with the natural beauty of our local landscape. In sport, students participated in a round robin football and netball day to prepare for our Term 3 interschool roster, which kicks off each Friday this term. A major highlight will be our upcoming Year 5 Camp to Orana, Roches Beach from August 25–27, where students will explore the South Arm and Opossum Bay area and take part in outdoor activities and team-building challenges. We’re also looking forward to more excursions later in the term, including a walk along the Truganini Track and potential High School taster days. In the classroom, students will dive into the finer elements of creative writing, with a strong focus on grammatical conventions and sentence construction. We’re also excited to launch our gymnastics program across the first few weeks of term – a fantastic opportunity to build strength, flexibility and confidence. Here's to a fun-filled and memorable Term 3!
