Principals Report

There is a beautiful story used by many teachers titled Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud. Whenever positive words and actions are given to another, we fill another’s bucket. The bucket symbolism is a visual representation for children as they see another’s, their own, and their class’ buckets filled whenever they demonstrate examples of the Spirit of Jesus and positive actions towards one another. Such examples are seen often in our school community; the students who race to open a door for others, those who stop in a race to help another and through our playground interactions where the older students are able to assist a younger student with a problem. We should be extremely proud of the fact that by and large our school is a positive, supportive and extremely welcoming place. We will continue to thrive and grow the better we work together, with the same approaches and understandings about the important elements of helping our children grow into functional and healthy young men and women.
Teachers are in the process of preparing and completing the Mid-Year Reports. Our Mid-Year reports for Prep to Grade 6 students will go home on the Wednesday 28th June followed by optional parent/teacher meetings in the last week of Term. A very big thank you to our teaching staff for their commitment and time as each individual report can take up to at least two hours to complete. Kindergarten students will not be receiving a formal report but will be having parent teacher interviews at a time to be advised.
We wish our Cross Country team all the very best as they compete in the Catholic School Cross Country Carnival on Friday and thank Mr Johnson for his organization of the team and additional training sessions.

Prayer and Reflection
National Reconciliation Week 2017 ‘Let’s Take the Next Steps’.
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) runs annually from 27 May – 3 June. These dates mark two milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey: The 1967 referendum and the historic Mabo decision, respectively. In 2017, we reflect on two significant anniversaries in Australia’s reconciliation journey – 50 years since the 1967 referendum, and 25 years since the historic Mabo decision.
This year we are asked to reflect on our national identity, and the place of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and rights in our nation’s story. As the living body of the Church, in all our forms - individuals, Parishes, Schools and organisations, we are asked to take the opportunity to think about the ways in which we can continue to bring Pope John Paul II's words to life:
"The Church herself in Australia will not be fully the Church that Jesus wants her to be until you have made your contribution to her life and until that contribution has been joyfully received by others."

Walk with Christ
The two successive Sunday’s after Pentecost Sunday are Trinity Sunday (11 June) and the Feast of Corpus Christi (18 June). In the Archdiocese our recent tradition is to celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi in the ‘Walk with Christ’. Schools and colleges are invited to participate in our third Diocesan Corpus Christi Procession on Sunday afternoon. The Procession will gather at St Joseph’s Church in Macquarie Street at 1:15pm, then process the Blessed Sacrament from St Joseph’s Church along Harrington Street to St Mary’s Cathedral, for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Solemn Benediction at approximately 2:00pm with a 3:00pm finish.
Bravehearts

Today we were fortunate to have a presentation from Braveheart’s for our Kindergarten to Grade 2 students. The students had the opportunity to experience ‘The Ditto Show’ by the Braveheart’s organization. The show focused on personal safety and information and strategies to keep children safe.
Buddy Programs in our School
Holy Rosary Catholic School is very fortunate to have close links with students from St Virgil’s College and Guildford Young College. St Virgil’s and Guildford Young students visit on a regular basis to work with our Grade 1 and 2 students both in the classroom and playground. These opportunities provide our students to interact with older students who provide excellent role models and the older students with leadership and mentorship skills.

Soccer
On Saturday morning I had the opportunity to watch three of our soccer teams in action. They certainly impressed with their enthusiasm, sportsmanship behaviour and their own delight in their achievements. Thank you to our supportive parents and wonderful coaches and managers.

Gymnastics 2017

With winter upon us the Holy Rosary masses will again be heading indoors for gymnastics in 2017 at the Hobart Gymnastics Academy in Bridgewater. All grades will be attending the centre for one of the most comprehensive gymnastics programs available. A roster will be available on the facebook site and from the office from Friday the 9th June. The program runs from the 14th June to the 5th July. Parent spectators are very welcome!
