Principals Report

This year has continued to be a year of positive change, growth and development for us all. At times we may not always get it right but with a committed supportive community we always continue to strive to provide excellent learning experiences for all inside and outside of the classroom. The reality is that the learning experiences and projects that have taken place this year could not have happened without a great deal of commitment and support from you - our parents and our incredible staff. All staff in this school believe in always doing what is best for the students. Their kindness and caring for students as whole people stand out as one of the most important qualities of Holy Rosary Catholic School.
On Wednesday evening we farewelled our Grade 6 students from Holy Rosary Catholic School, each and every one of them have been extremely special to us and we thank them for the contribution they have made during their time at Holy Rosary.
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of our community to thank and send our very best wishes to staff who will be leaving us at the end of 2018;
- Mrs Sarah Cassidy and Ms Esther Sulzberger who will be commencing Maternity Leave.
- Miss Danielle Middleton who will be moving to the Northern Territory to take up a position as Learning Support Coordinator in Nhulunbuy.
- Ms Georgie Fleming who will be taking up a position as Learning Support Coordinator at St Cuthbert’s Catholic School.
- Mrs Andrea Quick who has completed her contract in Kindergarten and we hope will continue to complete relief teaching days at Holy Rosary Catholic School.
- Miss Tracey Fletcher who has completed her contract in Grade 3.
Each of these staff members have made a significant contribution to our school and we thank them most sincerely for sharing their gifts and talents with us during 2018.
I thank you for sharing your children with us and I wish all families a Happy and Holy Christmas and a wonderful holiday break.

Prayer and Reflection
At the end of this school year we give thanks to God:
For all the teaching and learning that have taken place in our school, both in and out of the classroom.
For the talents and gifts that have been shared and the challenges that have been faced.
For the burdens that have been lifted anf the hurts that have been healed.
For the respect and care that have been given.
We give thanks for the friendships that have just begun and for those that have grown.
For the faith that has been lived in our daily struggles, and for the love that has kept us going.
We give thanks for the community that we are and we ask you Lord –
Bless our families as we take our holidays, may our time together leave us with memories to cherish.
Pour out your love on us that we may return renewed and refreshed to continue our journey together.
We ask this prayer
through Christ our Lord
Amen

Think You Know
On Thursday 14th December, Matt and John from the Tasmanian Police visited us to discuss cyber safety. This was a follow on from the Informative ThinkUKnow parent session we ran recently. They discussed topics such as creating secure usernames and passwords, knowing who you're befriending online, sharing information and photos, as well as how to seek assistance if it's needed.

Christmas Carols
On Friday evening we hosted our Holy Rosary Catholic School Christmas Carols. We were led in our singing beautifully by the Choir and Mrs. Claire Williams. It was a wonderful evening and we had a surprise visitor at the end who delighted the children. A huge thank you to Mrs. Claire Williams for her organization of this evening and the Parent Circle for their support.

New Rugby Tops
After Board and parent consultation we will be introducing a new rugby top to our school uniform in 2018. This is to bring the colour of the top into line with the new soft shell jackets that were introduced last year. There will be a two year change over period so if your child has our current rugby top they may continue to wear this until the end of 2019. We would like to stress that it is not a requirement to purchase the new top immediately as we do not wish to place undue pressure on families who may have recently purchased our current one.
