Principals Report

This year has continued to be a year of positive change, growth and development for us all. At times we may not always get it right but with a committed supportive community we always continue to strive to provide excellent learning experiences for all inside and outside of the classroom. The reality is that the learning experiences and projects that have taken place this year could not have happened without a great deal of commitment and support from you our parents and our incredible staff. All staff in this school believe in always doing what is best for the students. Their kindness and caring for students as whole people stand out as one of the most important qualities of Holy Rosary Catholic School.
On Wednesday evening we farewelled our Grade 6 students from Holy Rosary Catholic School, each and every one of them have been extremely special to us and we thank them for the contribution they have made during their time at Holy Rosary.
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of our community to thank and send our very best wishes to staff who will be leaving us at the end of 2018:
- Mr Matt Hunter who has worked with us during Term 3 in Grade 6 while Mr Brad Hastie has been on leave.
- Mrs Lindy Rahn who has worked in our Grade 4 team over the past two terms and will be teaching at St James Cygnet in 2019.
- Miss Tracey Fletcher who has worked in our Prep team and will be relocating to the North West coast and teaching at St Peter Chanel in Smithton.
- Mrs Megan Rea who has taught in our Grade 2 team for the past two years and will also be moving to the North West Coast to teach at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic School.
- Mrs Colette Goyne one of our Grade 5 teachers for the past three years will be leaving us to begin a new career as the Storyteller at Mac 1.
- Miss Nicola Smith who has taught in Grade 4 and Grade 2 over the past 4 years will be travelling a lot further to Singapore and teaching in an International Catholic School
- Mrs Jacinta Waddington our Learning Support Coordinator for the past 5 years is moving to St Virgil's College.
- Mr Brad Hastie who after many years at HRCS teaching in various grade levels will be sharing his talents with the students at St Therese’s Catholic School
- Mr Scott Mackenlay who after 13 years of amazing contributions and service to our school is moving onto new endeavours.
Each of these staff members have made a significant contribution to our school and we thank them most sincerely for sharing their gifts and talents with us during 2018.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Ms Adrienne Reeve and her husband Dave on the passing of Adrienne’s beloved father Christopher Reeve.
“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.”
I thank you for sharing your children with us and I wish all families a Happy and Holy Christmas and a wonderful holiday break.
Kind Regards
Bernadette Brooks

A very, very special night and a wonderful way to finish our Primary Years
Grade 6 Liturgy and Award Evening
As you are about to embark on your high school journey in 2019 – there will be lots of excitement and a little apprehension. There will be new friendships, new faces, lots of new teachers and wonderful experiences to look forward to. Remember the values you have learnt here at HRCS. As you become young adults, there will be times when your values are tested. Be strong and always be true to yourself. Then, no matter what happens, you will truly own your journey.
The staff and students of Holy Rosary Catholic School farewell you with hope for a wonderful future ahead. As you grow into young adults, we trust that the skills, values and attitudes you have learnt and developed in our community will stand you in good stead for a bright, happy and successful future.
Ms Brooks
Niah and Jack our School Captains gave their address at our liturgy and with their permission we have included a copy for our parents to read. They shared with our community the impact Holy Rosary has had on them over the past eight years. It would be fair to say their speeches blew us all away to learn what Holy Rosary has meant to them during this time and we are very proud to have been a part of it.

Christmas Carols
On Friday evening we hosted our Holy Rosary Catholic School Christmas Carols. We were led in our singing beautifully by the Choir and Mrs. Claire Williams. It was a wonderful evening and we had a surprise visitor at the end who delighted the children. A huge thank you to Mrs. Claire Williams for her organization of this evening and the Parent Circle for their support.

A very special evening
Congratulations to Joshua
Joshua (Gr 3F) Achieves the Highest Level in Cub Scouts

On Wednesday 12th December 2018 the District Commissioner of Scouts presented Joshua Gunn from Grade 3F with a Grey Wolf Award. This is the highest award achievable in Cub Scouts and not easy to obtain. Josh was required to complete a number of achievement badges as well as the Gold Boomerang badge, attend various camps and outdoor events, including a hike that he organised and lead. Josh is also the youngest and only the sixth Cub at Old Beach Scouts to achieve his Grey Wolf. Holy Rosary would like to Congratulate Joshua on his achievements.

Uniform and Expectations
The holiday break is a time for many parents to purchase new items of school uniform. I ask that all parents make themselves familiar with the uniform expectations of our school. When you enrolled your child at Holy Rosary Catholic School all parents signed an agreement to uphold the expectations of our school and one of these is the wearing of the correct uniform. We really are relying on parents to help us by supporting and following these uniform expectations.
